Features

CPU and GPU-accelerated ray tracing

A teaser image for feature: CPU and GPU-accelerated ray tracing
Allows CPU or GPU accelerated ray tracing. The GPU handles intensive tasks, while the CPU serves as a fallback to manage extreme memory demands or to operate on lower-spec machines. Both versions produce the same output, allowing to switch between them on demand.

Interactive glare risk assessment

A teaser image for feature: Interactive glare risk assessment
Our igexplorer frontend is a special software designed for glare evaluation and scene exploration. It provides important metrics and overlays in realtime and allows possible customers to try and explore different viewpoints and scene settings.

Radiance compatible

A teaser image for feature: Radiance compatible
The Radiance renderer is a key part of current glare risk assessments and a very well tested and evaluated software framework. Ignis supports a major part of Radiance features including Klems and Tensor BSDFs and is specifically designed and tested to be compatible with it.

Validated on measurements

A teaser image for feature: Validated on measurements
Our renderer is validated with real-life measurements acquired at the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE. A scientific publication is currently on development.

Wide-range support of models across the industry

A teaser image for feature: Wide-range support of models across the industry

Ignis supports a big range of models for materials, geometry, and sky originally provided by Radiance or content-creation software like Blender including:

  • Triangle meshes
  • Klems and tensor measured BSDFs
  • Analytic Disney BSDF
  • Perez sky model

A complete list of supported types is available in the official reference.

Denoising

A teaser image for feature: Denoising
Denoising reduces noise from limited ray tracing samples, enhancing image quality and clarity, while preserving details. Making realtime exploration with good image quality possible. Ignis utilizes the Intel Open Image Denoise, which is also used in movie production and architectural visualization. This feature is optional.
